Gulag in virtual and augmented reality

January 08, 2020 | Education

Dear friends, we would like to show you the first results of our experimenting with virtual and augmented reality which we have started to develop last year.

In cooperation with graphic designer Josef Brošta we managed to transform the basic form of our 3D model of the Gulag camp into virtual reality (VR) and thanks to a handy team from More is More company we have a model of the camp and couple of objects adapted for augmented reality (AR). We also work with photogrammetry technology to create models of objects and buildings.

Check out the video below:

Gulag in virtual reality can be experienced by visitors who come at our events. This is how virtual reality looked at the "Journey to the Gulag" film's premiere:

We would like to continue using these technologies to get the results of our work and the whole Gulag topic to the widest possible number of people - whether by VR AR exhibition or educational aids. But there is still a long way to go – the technology is quite expensive and development is also very demanding. So we will be glad for any support. You can support us financially, or contact us with any idea that could help us implement our plans. We will be grateful for any donation. Thank you!
