Workshops on writing letters to political prisoners in Russia

It may seem unbelievable, but political prisoners (despite being under enormous pressure in Russia) still have the right to correspond in writing with the outside world. Of course, sometimes the administration of a penal colony puts extra pressure on some of them and then deliberately does not pass on letters, but most of the unjustly persecuted people in Russia can still receive and send letters. And because political prisoners lack kind words and moral support, it is very important for us to write letters to them.

Since 2022, we have been organizing workshops, where you can learn more about the rules of this type of correspondence and the stories of specific political prisoners. The date and location of our next workshop can be found below. Our events are also meant for those who do not speak Russian, we will be happy to help you with translation.

You can also write a letter to a Russian prison from home. If you understand Czech, you will find answers to all the most important questions in our detailed guide. Please note that to write a good letter you will need at least a minimum knowledge of Russian or a willingness to actively use an online translator.

Current workshop:

Brno, 10 March 2025, from 18:00 - in the building of the Faculty of Arts MUNI, Arna Nováka 1. For more information follow us on Facebook
